This project, implemented by Airres in the Vize district of Kırklareli, includes the installation of a total of 21 wind turbines, the construction of related switchgear facilities, and the construction of a control management building. This large-scale investment, aimed at making a significant contribution to sustainable and clean energy production, has been completed in accordance with the highest engineering and safety standards, from the project development and monitoring processes to the construction of the site.
Development, Land Preparation, and Infrastructure Construction
The project began with a meticulous project development and monitoring process. During this process, land surveys and work planning were carried out to analyze the challenging topographical and geological structure of the land in the best possible way, ensuring that all construction activities were carried out accurately and efficiently.
Due to the challenging nature of the terrain, a total of 450,000 m³ of excavation was carried out, with 250,000 m³ of this excavation performed using controlled blasting methods. These extensive excavation and filling operations created a solid foundation for the turbine foundations and access roads.
In order for each turbine to withstand high static and dynamic loads, the reinforced concrete foundation works were carried out with great care. This process continued with the pouring of grout to increase the strength of the ground after the excavation of the foundation areas. Formwork and steel reinforcement were installed to form the main load-bearing structure of the foundations, after which the reinforced concrete works for the turbine foundations were completed. Anchoring systems that provide a secure connection between the turbine tower and the foundation, as well as electrical conduit piping for energy transmission, were also integrated prior to the reinforced concrete pour. Finally, grout was poured to reinforce the structural integrity of the foundation.
To protect the foundations from groundwater and moisture, waterproofing and drainage system applications were implemented, ensuring the long-term durability of the structures.
Logistics and Facility Structures
The installation of 21 turbines is a complex logistics operation requiring the transportation and assembly of heavy and bulky equipment. Therefore, transportation routes and turbine installation platforms were constructed with great care for the turbine installation in the project. Excavation and filling works carried out in accordance with the challenging conditions of the terrain ensured the safe movement of heavy cranes and transport vehicles. These roads and platforms were delivered in compliance with test standards and made ready for operational use.
In order to ensure the durability and sustainability of transportation routes, water ditches have been constructed according to the topography of the terrain. Concrete water culverts compliant with DSİ (State Water Works) standards have been built at road crossings to ensure the controlled drainage of surface water.
The switchyard and control management building, which are at the heart of the wind power plant, have also been completed as part of this comprehensive project. The switchyard ensures that the energy produced is safely transferred to the grid, while the control management building monitors, controls, and manages the operational processes of the entire facility 24/7.
This project serves as a model example of how turnkey projects in the wind energy sector can be successfully executed. Every stage, from the initial site surveys to the completion of turbine foundations, logistics, and infrastructure works, was carried out without compromising on quality and safety standards.
