The infrastructure and wind turbine foundation works for three (3) wind turbine generators (WTGs) at the Eksun Gıda Yalnızdam Wind Farm were successfully completed. The project was delivered on a turnkey basis in full compliance with applicable engineering standards, quality requirements, and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) regulations.
Wind Turbine Foundations and Crane Hardstand Construction
The project included the complete construction of reinforced concrete foundations designed to withstand the significant static and dynamic loads generated by the wind turbine generators throughout their operational life.
The scope commenced with foundation excavation and subgrade preparation, followed by lean concrete (blinding concrete) placement. Reinforcement fixing and formwork installation were then completed in accordance with the approved structural design prior to the execution of reinforced concrete foundation works.
Anchor cage assemblies, providing the structural connection between the wind turbine tower and foundation, together with all embedded electrical conduit systems required for power and control cable routing, were accurately positioned before concrete placement. Following completion of the reinforced concrete works, precision non-shrink grout was installed beneath the tower interface to ensure full load transfer and structural integrity. Waterproofing and subsurface drainage systems were subsequently constructed to protect the foundations against groundwater infiltration and moisture-related deterioration.
Access Roads and Civil Infrastructure Works
As part of the project, permanent wind turbine access roads and crane hardstands (installation platforms) were constructed to facilitate the transportation, assembly, and erection of heavy wind turbine components.
Extensive earthworks, including excavation, filling, grading, and compaction, were performed in accordance with the project specifications and geotechnical requirements, ensuring safe access for heavy haulage vehicles and high-capacity crawler cranes during turbine installation.
Upon completion, all access roads and crane hardstands successfully met the required engineering specifications and quality control criteria and were handed over ready for operational use.
To ensure the long-term performance and durability of the transportation infrastructure, roadside drainage ditches were constructed in accordance with the site's topographical conditions. In addition, reinforced concrete box and pipe culverts were installed at designated crossings in compliance with the standards of the Turkish State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), providing effective stormwater management and controlled surface water discharge.
Project Completion
All civil, structural, and infrastructure works associated with the Eksun Gıda Yalnızdam Wind Farm Project were successfully completed within the contractual schedule while maintaining the highest standards of quality, occupational health and safety, and environmental management.
The completed works delivered a robust and reliable infrastructure capable of supporting the safe installation and long-term operation of the wind turbine generators, contributing to the sustainable generation of renewable energy and demonstrating excellence in turnkey wind energy infrastructure construction.
