Alibeyres Rüzgar Enerji Üretim A.Ş. Wind Project

Construction of 12 Turbine Platforms and Foundations, Switchyard and Control Building, Transportation Roads and Culverts

Total Installed Capacity: 30MW

Bandırma - Balıkesir, Turkey
Completed 2018

This project, undertaken by Alibeyres in Bergama, İzmir, encompasses the installation of a total of 12 wind energy turbines, the construction of associated switchyard facilities, and a control and management building. Aiming to make a significant contribution to sustainable and clean energy production, this complex project has completed all phases—from site preparation to the final turbine installation—to the highest engineering and safety standards.

Site Preparation and Turbine Foundation Fabrication

The first and most critical phase of the project began with detailed site investigations and work planning tailored to the topographical and geological structure of the land for each turbine. These preliminary works ensured that all construction processes were carried out accurately and efficiently.

To ensure each turbine could withstand high static and dynamic loads, the reinforced concrete foundation fabrications were meticulously executed. This process began with excavation of the foundation areas, followed by the pouring of lean concrete to create a solid base. Formwork and rebar installation were then performed to form the main load-bearing structure of the foundations, after which the turbine foundation reinforced concrete fabrications were completed. Anchor systems, which provide a secure connection between the turbine tower and the foundation, and electrical conduit pipe installations were integrated before the concrete pouring. Finally, grout pouring was performed to strengthen the structural integrity of the foundation.

To protect the foundations from groundwater and moisture, another key component of the project was the implementation of waterproofing and drainage systems. This insulation and drainage system ensures the longevity of the structures.

Logistics and Facility Construction

The installation of 12 turbines is a complex logistical operation that requires the transportation and assembly of heavy and bulky equipment. Therefore, access roads and turbine installation platforms were constructed with great care. The excavation and backfilling work, adapted to the challenging site conditions, ensured that heavy cranes and transport vehicles could move safely. These roads and platforms were delivered in accordance with test standards, making them ready for operational use.

To ensure the durability and sustainability of the access roads, water ditches were built based on the topography of the land. For road crossings, reinforced concrete culverts, compliant with DSI (State Hydraulic Works) standards, were constructed to control the flow of surface water.

The switchyard and control and management building, which are the heart of the wind power plant, were also completed as part of this comprehensive project. The switchyard ensures that the generated energy is safely transmitted to the grid, while the control and management building allows for the 24/7 monitoring, control, and management of all facility operations.

This project stands as an exemplary case study of how a turnkey project in the wind energy sector can be successfully executed. Every stage—from initial site investigations to the completion of turbine foundations, logistics, and infrastructure works—was carried out without compromising on quality and safety standards.
